The name SuSE is an
acronym of the German branch's full name: "Gesellschaft für
Software-
und
System
entwicklung mbH", which translates to "Society for
software and
systems development,
Ltd."
When they got big, they created a stock corporation, the SuSE AG, which owns the local branches, as well as the separate companies that provice support services.
