A small,
bipedal,
carnivorous dinosaur that lived in the late
Cretaceous period. The only known
species of this
genus is
Adasaurus mongoliensis, whose remains were found in southern
Mongolia in 1983. It was named after a
demon (Ada =
evil) in the local
mythology, no relation to
Lady Lovelace.
From its known fossils, the Adasaurus was probably about 2.5 meters long, and weighed about 15 kilograms. It's obvious from these dimensions that it was quite slim and lightweight, drawing comparisons to the birds it was somewhat closely related to.
