Civilization III (thing)

• No multiplayer. This is adressed in Civilization III: Play the World, but it should have been included in the original.

• Limited civilization choices. I have heard that Play the World adds another 16 civilizations, but there should still be more!

• No premade scenarios. Especially absent is a premade World War II scenario, like the one found in Civilization II.

• No diplomacy editor in the World Editor. This means that an ambitious player can't create his own World War II scenario.

• Simplistic AI. Even though it is worlds beyond the original, diplomacy with the computer is still very irritating. They still act irrational and require the old "butter em' up" method to get what you want.

• No ability to adjust tax rates/wages. This means that it is an arduous task of balancing Science with the amount of buildings/military units you produce each turn, with no way to increase your income (apart from constructing something that gives you better commerce).

• The removal of the Fanatiscm government, and the failure to include the Fascist and Socialist government.

• Small map sizes. The maximum map sizes are bigger than the first two, but still not big enough. The World Map is so small that any given civilization will run into another within the first five turns.

• The inability to construct air bases outside your cities with your workers.

Apart from that, the game is great. I just can't wait until Play the World is released in Australia; hopefully it will adress most of these problems.
