A term used in
Howard Bloom's
Global Brain.
Diversity generators stir things up, make immune systems function, and "supercharge history" (43). Bloom gives an example of a society that was famous for its diversity generators, ancient Athens.
The two biggest diversity generators are:
1. Overcome a problem by inventing, evolving, or thinking out a solution.
2. Disassociate yourself from those you dislike. Fashion, ideology, ritual, etc.
