Withnail And I (thing)

The original ending to Bruce Robinson's script had Withnail, after his speech in the park, returning home, loading the gun he pilfered from Monty's cottage, pouring wine into the barrel, drinking it and then firing.

Aside from the fact that this would have made the film one of the most depressing in recorded history, I can't imagine that red wine would do the gun much good either.
