The title of a book by
Rob Brezsny. Published by Frog, Ltd. Berkely, CA 2000
It Begins:
Welcome to the Televisionary Oracle
Coming to you on location from your repressed memory of Paradise
Reminding you
that you can have anything you want
if you'll only ask for it in an unselfish tone of voice
"It's true that my book, THE TELEVISIONARY
ORACLE, does have stories which in some ways resemble the kind of plots found in what are typically called "
novels." But it's also stuffed full of oracles, philosophical treatises,
love letters,
polemics, song lyrics, and a manifesto or two." -- Rob Breszney
The book follows two protagonists, a man named
Rockstar and a woman named
Rapunzel Blavatsky. He is, to some extent, a rockstar, and she is the shamanatrix of the Menstural Temple of the
Funky Grail, and quite possibly the reincarnation of
Mary Magdalen. These two share the narrative with the "'Televisionary Oracles' -- programs broadcast by a sacred
infotainment cabal which resembles what the television industry might be if it were a source of wisdom, integrity, and
blessings instead of
propaganda, degradation, and junk food for thought."
Why is it so important
to the future
of daffodils and sea urchins and the jet stream
the childbirth be shown regularly in prime time?
What is the best way
for you to undo
the black magic
that you've performed on yourself ?
Your lucky phobia is epeinopopontonphobia, the fear of crossing the wine-dark sea
