Pronounced "ray-kin-toe". The smallest pandero of all, yet the most challenging and (some say) the most fun to play. If there's one way to describe the playing of this instrument it's got to be the word crazy. At first glance it seems as if the percussionist is smacking the drum randomly, but he/she is actually following the beat set by the Punteador and Seguidor and "filling in the spaces" by playing on the off-beat. It's essentially the drum responsible for pumping life into Plena.
It is held with one hand away from the chest and played with the other. A combination of rapid beats and carefully placed pauses creates the desired sound; something along the lines of "pah dan pah, pah dan pahpahpah dan pah pah pah dan pah...".
