Beethoven Lives Upstairs is a children's tape depicting the life of
Ludwig van Beethoven. It is told from the perspective of a boy (Christoff) who has Mr. Beethoven move in upstairs. He writes his uncle, telling him of the horrible things Mr. Beethoven does (ranting to himself, writing on the walls, sawing off the piano legs
with the hope of hearing something -anything-
of his beautiful music, counting out sixty coffee beans for every cup). His uncle writes him back
explaining Mr. Beethoven's behavior. His music is played throughout the tape and one listening can understand why some of his music sounds so angry, so tortured, and yet so beautiful. It is very well put together, an entertaining bit of history for any age group. I still listen to it, along with The Magic Flute and Mr. Bach Comes to Call.
