Framerate conversion method used to telecine films to 50Hz based television standards (PAL, SECAM).
Much simpler than NTSC Pulldown, it merely presents one film frame on both video fields, effectively presenting each film frame at maximum resolution using all interlaced 625 lines, and no motion artifacts.
F: 1 2 3 4 5
V: 1122334455
There's only one problem: PAL/NTSC runs at 25 frames per second, film at 24fps. The film has to be sped up by about 4%, resulting in a noticeable
pitch distortion, where music will sound
off key by a
half step.
