Introduced by
IBM in
1984, EGA was a huge improvement over
CGA.
EGA allows up to
16 colors, with a resolution of 640
pixels horizontally, and 350 pixels
vertically.
Because the higher resolution and more colors could be used, programs could look a lot better then on CGA, and text could be read more easily.
Unfortunately, EGA still was not sufficient for desktop publishing.
