Women in Tech Support (idea)

The ups and downs of being female in Tech Support...

Let's start with the good things (there aren't many):

• You always get the women's bathroom to yourself. None of that funky odor that's in the men's room.
• You have lots of admirers, or more appropriately, stalkers. Geek girls are a rarity in tech support and geek guys go ga-ga over you. Easy dating material.
• Customers who would rip the head off of a male tech are much more polite to you.
• There's nobody to share "female issues" with. Men just don't appreciate cramps, menstruation, and hormones.

Now, the bad things (there are many):

• Every customer thinks you're the secretary. Note: Female does not mean secretary! Get your head out of the 1950's!
• Some chauvinist male techs never take you seriously. Some male customers won't either. I have a CCNA and 5 years of experience and some idiot reps here still think I know less than a targ.
• Every bout of PMS just about gets you fired when you almost ream a customer a new asshole. Midol anyone?
• Nobody there to discuss female issues like menstruation, cramps, hormones, bad boyfriends, and well, just girl stuff. Sure, we're geeks like you, but we're also women.
