Garland

Drew of the forest,
Drew of the trees

Lie down among the windswept leaves
and whisper things to me

Tell me of your garland
made of ivy leaves and rose

Let me hear your lisping speech
that softens as it flows

Explain to me your views on life
and why it is you chose

to wear a garland in your hair
and rings upon your toes

While all the other stars around
were glad in gauche designer gowns

you walked the carpet free and wild
a precious smiling nature child
