A silly but plausible *NIX/Linux command-line utility, written by Micah Cowan and distributed under GPL.
Ditty's purpose is simple: It takes notes as argument, and plays them either from PC speaker or /dev/dsp (though the DSP output is fairly horrible).
As the author puts it, here are some suggestions for its use (from README):
Some things that may make ditty fun to use are:
- as sound-effects in a shell-script,
- to make a wierd videogame-like noise-thingy whenever you log in (via .bash_login), or logout (via .bash_logout).
Ditty is available as Debian package. No distribution should be without.
