OpenTracker
is an
open source version of
BeOS's normal "Tracker", which is a windows manager for the operating system (ala
Explorer.exe). Be, inc. open sourced it's Tracker (and Deskbar, ala
Start Menu) probably because they were
refocusing company resources on their
BeIA, an
Internet Appliance Operating System. By open sourcing the Tracker and DeskBar,
developers and
enthusiasts of BeOS can continue to get more
tweaks and
cool new features, praise the company for it's
open sourciness, and try to
get over the companies
focus shift away from the
excellent media OS they were developing towards
voice-activated,
internet-enabled,
E*trade weilding refrigerators.
