Etymology of Hyperion
Although Hyperion is an
ancient greek god, like many other
greek names, his name actually made sense as words only --
huper meaning over, and
ion the
participle for the verb to
go. So his name actually means OverGoer. Hyperion drove the
chariot of the sun before the
Titans were overthrown and
Apollo took over.
