It could have been much more darker than this i'd say,
but there is some kindness that holds the savagery away.
Like the rains that keep the pollution down,
the feeble and feigned smile that hides the frown.
Like the distance from others that keeps us away from harm,
the last Sun rays of Arctic Summer keeping us warm.
Like the political correctness that keeps the truth from surfacing,
the scratches and dents hidden by polish and buffing.
Like the fear of law that keeps us in a lane,
the diabolical opioids that mask the pain.
The last string that holds the humanity, strains to last,
by the people who struggle and still live in the past.
