The DeFranco Family was a group of five musician siblings 'discovered' and publicized by Tiger Beat magazine, hyped as a white Jackson 5. From there, a record deal sprang forth, and the hit single 'Heartbeat - It's a Lovebeat' was issued. IIRC, they were Canadian (a plot from up north, perhaps?) and the lead singer, Tony DeFranco, was about 14 years old at the time of the single. Nothing much happened after that; they are playing Retrofests now.
