Started around the 1960s, this is basically purely Jamacian music, an early form of reggae. The Skatalites is one of the pioneering first wave ska bands, but Bob Marley is also another important artist.
The second wave of ska added jazz influeneces, and the third wave form, which has become popular recently, adds elements of modern punk and other stuff.
