American astronomer. Born 1898, died 1990.

Throughout her long life, Charlotte Moore-Sitterly collected, collated and analyzed observational data on the solar spectrum. In a publication from 1928, she listed 58,000 spectral lines (a.k.a. Fraunhofer lines) and 57 chemical compounds in the spectrum of the Sun. A later, revised edition from 1966 added another 10,000 lines. She kept working actively past her 90th birthday.
