The CoreGrafx was a special re-release of the original
PC Engine to ensure the system's ongoing popularity (and no doubt to crush
Sega at every turn). It looked basically the same save for a new black finish, and most importantly, the addition of standard
A/V composite video output, which was becoming the norm for modern televisions. The CoreGrafx came with the necessary cables and one
control pad, and that was it. Almost instantly, NEC followed up this rerelease with the
CoreGrafx II.
