Writes, ostensibly, on technology, but really is a pop-culture writer working tech's periphery; we're still waiting for him to master his chosen distro. His CBS News and Wired pedigrees are all too evident, in his occasional penchant for the sideshow; would that the Thomas Merton fan in him could bring some of the monk's rigor and introspection to the table - then I'd feel better when he slows /.'s boxen to a crawl with the often inane chatter surrounding his uneven essays.

But he's cool. His earnestness is to be admired, especially the time and energy spent during the time of Littleton and its attendant geeking frenzy. I hope the calls on Slashdot to "fire that commie gasbag" have themselves slowed to a crawl - if you absolutely don't like him, you can always filter him out in your user prefs.

My only real complaint: he still needs a proofreader.
