Canadian author best known for writing Shoeless Joe, the novel upon which "Field Of Dreams" was based. Also had a book of short stories, Dance Me Outside, made into a movie of the same name. Has written over 15 novels and countless short stories, mostly about baseball and Native Americans. Occasionally compared to Richard Brautigan, but is generally less smug and more wondrous. Anyone with any interest in baseball and a touch of surrealism should read The Iowa Baseball Confederacy.
