Famous for his abstract compositions of geometric shapes and colours, perhaps the first definitive break with representational art. Designed costumes for Victory over the Sun, a futurist musical staged at Luna Park in St. Petersburg in 1913.
Little-known fact: The framed prints in the office of Heather Locklear's character on the TV soap Melrose Place are Malevich's costume designs for Victory over the Sun.
