A town in Holland, situated about 15 minutes from the Hague, towards Leiden. Wassenaar has a population of approximately 26, 000 (of which approximately 3, 400 have a nationality other than Dutch), and covers an area of 62.5 km2. Its biggest claim to fame: it was where the The Wassenaar Treaty was created.

Other claims to fame:

  • It has been described by The Times as 'the Beverly Hills of the Netherlands'
  • It is home of the American School of the Hague (ASH)
  • The theme park, Duinrell, is located there
  • It has a very nice beach
I don't want to be too subjective, but if you are going to visit the Netherlands, suffice to say that spending time in Wassenaar should not be one of your highest priories.
