Adelphia

The poor excuse for a cable company in my area. The only cable modem service we can get is 1-way, which sucks. The quality of most of the channels is sub-par, especially cartoon network which has annoying lines running through it. The signal isn't strong enough to go over the local broadcast channels in the area, so channel 6 would ghost with the local ABC broadcast. They seem not to care, but since they're a monopoly in the area, why should they? Did I mention that we pay $35 for this crap, and only 40 channels too. I suppose the only way to get good service is to order digital cable but its +$10/mo and supposedly has mpeg artifacts

In early 2000, Adelphia acquired the cable system in the eastern half of the San Fernando Valley from TCI, which was in the process of being taken over by AT&T at the time.

They have made very few channel lineup changes since taking over the system, except for adding a group of Spanish channels to digital cable.

Also, since they're allegedly a family-friendly company, they eventually dropped the Spice channel and Playboy TV, because they refuse to carry any porn channels. This means that certain actors who live and work in the Valley have to rent videos in order to watch themselves at home.

However, Adelphia seems to have no problem with the existence of programming such as "G-String Divas" on HBO, for example.
