Simply put, it is a morning television program that broadcasts news, weather, sports, and other features.

The term is mainly British.

While Breakfast TV in the US is a big hit, with shows like Today and Good Morning America, it took a while for the concept to reach the other side of the pond.

But, on January 17, 1983, Breakfast TV made its debut in the UK on the BBC. Called Breakfast Time, the show aired at 6:30 AM to 9:00 AM, and the first hosts were Frank Bough and Selina Scott.

On ITV, TV-am was the breakfast TV show to watch. Robert Frost and a few others hosted the show, which first graced British TV screens on February 1st, 1983. The 1991 ITV franchise rounds bid farewell to TV-am, and from New Years' Day 1993, GMTV (Good Morning Television) was the thing to watch now. Eammon Andrews presents the show.
