The son of a Warrington fishmonger, ginger-haired bespectacled Chris Evans has grown up to become one of the most famous media personalities in the UK. Starting out as a disk jockey on local radio his catchy (many would say 'irritating') style soon saw him first on national radio and then on TV where he hit the big time first on Channel 4's The Big Breakfast and then with his show Don't Forget Your Toothbrush.

In 1998 Evans was working as a DJ at Virgin Radio when Richard Branson announced the station was up for sale. Evans bought the station, where he continues to work, as well as presenting TFI Friday on television. He donated £100,000 to Ken Livingstone's campaign to become Mayor of London prompting Frank Dobson, Livingstone's rival to state "I never trust redheads anyway"
