American "double decker" sandwich (uses three pieces of bread), usually on toast, that includes bacon, lettuce, tomato, and turkey (variations use ham or chicken or lobster). Traditionally served with mayonnaise, quartered, and skewered with toothpicks. Its name comes from the country clubs where it is said to have originated (possibly a 19th century invention of the Saratoga Club, a gambling den in Saratoga, New York).
