DiC was a film and television production company founded in France in 1971. Specializing in (mostly) animated programs for children, (mostly) based on pre-existing properties. Their notable output included:

  • Sailor Moon (dubbed the first two seasons, the third and fourth were done by Cloverway)

  • The Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog, Sonic SatAM, and Sonic Underground
  • Wish Kid
  • Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventures (second season)
  • The New Archies and Archie's Weird Mysteries
  • Camp Candy
  • The Super Mario Bros. Super Show

  • The initials stood for Diffusion, Information et Communicatio, but most fans jokingly said it stood for Do It Cheaply!, due to their assembly line style of animation, which dominated kids TV in 80s and 90s.

    In 2008, the company was acquired by The Cookie Jar Group formally Cinar, which was acquired by DHX media in 2012.
