The
Fencing Illini is the
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign's
fencing club.
We're not a varsity team; that got disbanded the better part of a
decade ago.
Yours truly was the president of the club in 2001-2002.
We meet three times a week--Monday, Wednesday, and Friday; with roughly
a 6:30-7:00 PM start time each day. We'll go until 9 or 9:30 PM,
or whenever people start falling over and want to leave. Beginner
lessons and drills are done on Monday and Wednesday; Friday is for intermediate/advanced
students only.
We meet in the campus Armory (sounds imposing, but it's really just
a track and field facility). It's located on Fourth Street, between
Armory Street and Gregory Street in Champaign. We usually meet
inside the track on the east side.
If you're in the Champaign-Urbana area, or you want to take a road trip
from Chicago or elsewhere in the Midwest, come on down!
