The Good Housekeeping Seal has become an American institution. Created in 1909 by the Good Housekeeping Institute, 9 years after their inception it recognises that a products' quality and build adheres to their strict Consumers' Policy (it is similar to the WHICH? seal used in the UK).

It has served as a warranty against product failure since it was established and apart from being a great sales point, and a good example of ingredient branding, offers the purchaser a two year limited warranty. If a product bearing the seal proves to be defective within two years of purchase, Good Housekeeping will replace the product or refund the purchase price.

Therefore the seal is considered to be a an acknowledgment of product quality.

Products with the seal include the Panasonic's MC-V7395 vacuum cleaner, the Rowenta Ultra Professional iron and the AGFA Walgreens Studio 35 film (400 iso).
