Greg Kelser was an important member of the 1979 NCAA basketball championship team from Michigan State University. MSU's Spartans were led by the famous Magic Johnson, Kelser and fellow future NBA player Jay Vincent. MSU's offensive firepower and tough matchup zone defense proved too much for their opponents in the title game, Larry Bird and the Indiana State Sycamores.

Kelser was extremely athletic and an excellent scorer. With Magic Johnson feeding him, Kelser finished many a fast break with a high flying slam dunk. Kelser was a first-team academic All-American, a four-year starter and team captain.

The 6-foot-7 Kelser played professionally in the NBA for the Detroit Pistons, Seattle Supersonics, San Diego Clippers and Indiana Pacers. His professional career was relatively undistinguished, but he will always be "Special K" to Spartan fans.
