Literally "Words of the High one", Håvamål is supposed to be Odin's advice to the human race. Håvamål is a part of the Elder Edda.

Håvamål is a collection of poems, describing proverbs and advice on everyday life, as well as a few mythological stories from the Norse mythology.

Here's a sample verse:

Døyr fe;
døyr frendar;
døyr sjølv det same.
Men ordet om deg
aldri døyr
vinn du eit gjetord gjævt.

(Cattle die, kindred die,
Every man is mortal:
But the good name never dies
Of one who has done well)

Håvamål is divided into the following parts:
Part I:
Håvamål proverbs
Part II:
Odin and Billing's Daughter
Odin at Suttung's Court
Part III:
Odin's Advice to Loddfafnir
Odin on Runes
Odin's 18 Charms
