Alcoholic beer-like beverage popular in Japan. With a taste similar to beer, but a lower price due to different taxation (Happoushuu was originally created to circumvent the beer-tax in Japan), it has so far conquered a third of the japanese beer-market. The only difference is a lower percentage of malt, giving it a milder taste, which also makes a popular drink amongst the female population, who in general don't like the bitter taste of beer. Literally translated, it means sparkling alcoholic beverage.
