Hua Guo-feng

Hua Guo-feng led one of the many 1970s factions in China, backed by Mao and the military. After the death of Zhoe En-lai he assumed control rather than Deng Xiao-ping with Mao’s support but had no time to build a power base. He tried to connect with Mao ideologically and with his hair cut (ass-kissing fassion poser). He was forced to allow Deng Xiao-ping back into politics by pragmatist backers and was eventually removed from real power.
