ISO 8859-8

The 8-bit ISO character set for the Hebrew alphabet. ISO-8859-8 is used with Hebrew, Yiddish, and Ladino.

The lower 128 entries are the same as the ASCII character set. The top 128 entries contain 27 Hebrew characters starting at entry 224 (0xE0) plus the miscellaneous symbols from ISO-8859-1 from positions 0xA0 to 0xBF (except the inverted question mark and exclaimation mark).

ISO 8859-8, which does not have a Latin-X equivilent, is an ISO 8859 variant for use with Hebrew languages.

ISO 8859-7 <-- ISO 8859-8 --> ISO 8859-9

As with all of the ISO 8859 Character Sets, the first 160 characters (the 128 7-bit characters plus the first 32 control characters with the high bit set) are identical to ISO 8859-1 or Latin-1. Thus, I will only list the 67 characters different from ISO 8859-1.

Note that several code points in ISO 8859-8 are unassigned.
