Kaya is a type of jam that is widely used in Singapore and Malaysia. It is made mainly from coconut milk, eggs, sugar and pandan leaves.

While the ingredients may sound a bit weird, kaya is very delicious, having a rich thick taste that ideally is not too sweet and bursting with pandan fragrance. It is normally served in the morning, spread with butter on slices of bread.

Roti kaya, as bread spread with kaya is known in Singapore and Malaysia, is a popular breakfast, complimented by a cup of coffee or tea from the friendly neighbourhood kopitiam.

Kaya, Bob Marley and the Wailers 7th record, is a collection of love songs and an homage to the healing powers of ganja. Released to coincide with BMW´s first first world tour and in anticipation of the 1978 One Love Peace concert.

The record moves Bob into more commercial territory. Bob was becoming an international star and was trying to transform his music into something everybody could appreciate.

"Kaya means herb. It's a password some of the brethren use in JA. So Kaya is really dealing with togetherness and humanity and peace, (because) the thing of peace travel through the earth now. Yes, ´Rastaman Vibrations and Exodus were 'arder. This time we dealing with something softer." - Bob Marley

Wake up and turn I loose,
wake up and turn I loose
for the rain is falling

Got to have kaya now, got to have kaya now
got to have kaya now, for the rain is falling

I feel so high, I even touch the sky
above the falling rain
I feel so good in my neighbour-hood
so here i come again

Got to have kaya now, got to have kaya now
got to have kaya now, for the rain is falling

I feel so high, I even touch the sky
above the falling rain
I feel so good in my neighbour-hood
so here i come again

Got to have kaya now, got to have kaya now
got to have kaya now, for the rain is falling

Get up and turn I loose
wake up and turn I loose
wake up and turn I loose, for the rain is falling
well kayaman, kaya, kaya
