A predominantly
African-American inner-city neighborhood in
Miami, Florida, between
Hialeah and
Little Haiti in the armpit of
Interstate 95. It is universally known as one of the worst areas of Miami for crime and
urban decay, and so it is often used to refer to black slums in general, even by non-natives such as
Chris Rock. The other major black
ghetto in Miami is
Overtown.
A fictional Liberty City is also the setting for the first three Grand Theft Auto games: the name may have been inspired by Miami's little ghetto (the other half of Miami, of course, became Vice City).
