Luigi Serafini is a graphic designer and architect, born in Rome, Italy, in 1949. He is most famous for his magnum opus, Codex Seraphinianus, which was published in 1983. The Codex is an encyclopedia with text handwritten in a cryptic language in florid cursive, and colorful hand-drawn illustrations documenting a fantastic bizarro world.

Aside from the Codex, Serafini has written another book called Pulcinellopedia Piccola, and has designed sets and costumes for theater, ballet, and film, including work at la Scala and with Federico Fellini.
