Malmö, as
krimson has quite rightly written, the third-largest city in
Sweden, lies across the
Öresund (Dn.:
Øresund) from
Copenhagen, in
Denmark. Due to the proximity to the
Danish capital it has become an
incredibly
vibrant,
lively, and
personal city. You can shuttle across the
Öresund in less than an hour, and there has now been a bridge built across
the sound, too (Europe's longest).
It was the chief city of
the Malmöhus län (prefecture) -- Malmöhus län and Kristianstads län being merged to revive the old couny of Skåne -- and the nearest cities of interest are
Trelleborg, to the south, and Lund, to the north.
