Meg Whitman is the CEO of eBay, hired by Jeff Skoll (co-founder), due to the fact that she had worked at big companies like Hasbro (It should be noted that she then highered senior staff from other big companies such as Pepsico and Disney). She assisted in getting eBay in the game early, which later helped it immensely by establishing a large customer base, and also acquired Half.com. Definitely helped make sure the company didn't go the way of Pets.com.
