Authorized Version | Psalms | Psalm 119

ת TAU

169 Let my cry come near before thee, O LORD: give me understanding according to thy word.
170 Let my supplication come before thee: deliver me according to thy word.
171 My lips shall utter praise, when thou hast taught me thy statutes.
172 My tongue shall speak of thy word: for all thy commandments are righteousness.
173 Let thine hand help me; for I have chosen thy precepts.
174 I have longed for thy salvation, O LORD; and thy law is my delight.
175 Let my soul live, and it shall praise thee; and let thy judgments help me.
176 I have gone astray like a lost sheep; seek thy servant; for I do not forget thy commandments.

From the Great Bible, 1540 edition (known as Cranmer's Bible). Set in the Book of Common Prayer, 1662, for Evening Prayer on the twenty-sixth day of the month.

Appropinquet deprecatio.

Let my complaint come before thee, O Lord : give me understanding, according to thy word.
170 Let my supplication come before thee : deliver me, according to thy word.
171 My lips shall speak of thy praise : when thou hast taught me thy statutes.
172 Yea, my tongue shall sing of thy word : for all thy commandments are righteous.
173 Let thine hand help me : for I have chosen thy commandments.
174 I have longed for thy saving health, O Lord : and in thy law is my delight.
175 O let my soul live, and it shall praise thee : and thy judgements shall help me.
176 I have gone astray like a sheep that is lost : O seek thy servant, for I do not forget thy commandments.

From the Vulgate, where it is listed, according to the Catholic manner, as Psalm 118.:

Ingrediatur laus mea coram te Domine secundum verbum tuum doce me.
Veniat deprecatio mea ante vultum tuum secundum eloquium tuum libera me.
Fundant labia mea hymnum docebis enim me praecepta tua.
Loquetur lingua mea sermonem tuum quia omnia mandata tua iusta.
Sit manus tua auxiliatrix mea quia praecepta tua elegi.
Desideravi salutare tuum Domine et lex tua voluntas mea.
Vivet anima mea et laudabit te et iudicia tua auxiliabuntur mihi.
Erravi quasi ovis perdita quaere servum tuum quia mandatorum tuorum non sum oblitus.

The psalm in either case may be followed by the Gloria Patri.
