I want to be free.

Of course, that's not easy when you're not sure what to do with yourself. It's not as if I have much of a threshold for tedium. Also, I feel that if I can't express myself, then there's no point in my existence in particular, as opposed to the existence of yet another drone. However, drones are what the work world seems to demand, and since I don't know how to defend myself from intimidation or how to deal with someone else holding my life in their hands, I'm naturally terrified of authority.

But although I'm good at creating things, inspiration is fickle and I can rarely force something out of myself that's actually good -- and hate being forced to do anything by anyone in the first place. Call me lazy, but I'll do what I want at the pace I want. If you're patient, though, what I actually produce is high-quality. If only patience were still considered a virtue...

Anyway, I won't settle for anything less than a job in which I get paid for something I enjoy doing to the point that I'd tend to do it anyway, where quality is valued over quantity and speed, and where authority isn't abused. I want to be treated as a valued member of a team, not a cog in a product generator; as an asset, not an expense. Anything less would be torture, in the long run if not in the short. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Anyone?

...

sigh... I didn't think so. :(
