An incorporated village on Fire Island. East of Kismet and west of Fair Harbor. A great family community and a great name for a town.

The name, incidentally, although pronounced Salt-Air, is actually named after Lord Salt of England, who lived on the river Aire.

It has 3 lifeguard stands on the ocean side, and a bay with sunfishes and lasers and windsurfers. A ferry from the mainland leaves from Bay Shore, and stops at Kismet also.

The advantage of the village being incorporated is that they have a mayor and town hall, and their own budget, which is an advantage over Kismet, but there are more local taxes.

I live there.
