Selenophobia is a fear of the moon. Like most phobias, the reactions selenophobia can cause is a nervous breakdown, shock, stress, or panic attacks. Selenophobia isn't a common or serious enough fear like claustrophobia, the fear of tight spaces to cause pity or sympathy, but it isn't a rare or unusual fear like arachibutyrophobia, the fear of peanut butter sticking to the roof of the mouth, which will cause giggles and jokes. A way to deal with selenophobia is by checking the moon phases to see which nights you can go out without having to deal with the nuisance of the moon, and covering your eyes (i.e. a hood, a hat) if you absolutely must go out on a night with a moon out.
