A song by The Beta Band which despite somewhat silly lyrics is quite beautiful. The first half of the song consists of three phrases layered on top of one another with bass, percussion and sampled accompaniment. The stunningly executed layering of phrases in The House Song wonderfully illustrates The Beta Band’s consistently inspiring use of words to establish and reinforce rhythmic structures. The second portion begins with a nice little French/gibberish rap that peters out into a drum and bass sample-fest complete with tweeting birds and pitch adjusted helicopter blades.
