pompous to me. Great, so you came, and yes, you did your stuff, (whatever it was) and then due to some
unseen power or strength, you succeeded. Well, s'cuse us conquered for living.
Who really gives a damn about how great you are? Some of us are the losers. Some of us get left behind. Some of us got stepped on. How about something for the little folk?
Be nice to us, be quiet and unobtrusive. Just something simple like I came, I saw, I left. No big deal, no story to tell. No spotlight shining down on you, just say your piece and scram. Okay?
Leave some dramatics for us - I came, I saw, I landed on my butt, or I came, I saw, they kicked me off the island.
Only one lucky dude is going to say 'I came blah blah I conquered.' The rest will be saying I came, I saw, I left. This is a saying for the population. This is realistic, at least.
T'is a pity, maybe, that there's only one winner in this life, but at least I can say that I was here.
