Lately, I've been thinking about
three-adjective phrases that I hear, see, or say
with varying frequency.
There are lots of cultural connections about
the number 3, so this is probably just another
incarnation of that.
Regardless, I enjoy contemplating them next to each
other, comparing their aura and connotations,
trying to see how much of that is me, how much are in
the words themselves, and how much is in the context
I first heard them in.
- tall, dark, and handsome.
- hard, fast, and beautiful:
a phrase from
various songs by The Thrill Kill Kult; it emerged
on the remix album Songs to Strip to... as a
full-fledged song, with two mixes, no less!
- fat, dumb, & happy:
what media, governments, and corporations
want us to be.
- young, dumb, and full of cum:
a song by Whale, off their album We Care.
- fat, dumb, and ugly and
tall, dark, and neurotic:
ha ha only serious descriptions of me.
- physically strong, mentally awake, and
morally straight:
what boy scouts are supposed to be.
- fitter, happier, more productive:
the title lyric of a song off Radiohead's
OK Computer
- lyin', cheatin', stealin'
(conveniently enough, you can view this as three
adjectives or as three verbs)
