Amyloplasts are organelles used by plants to take glucose and synthesize it into starch. They also store this starch, and convert it back into energy as needed. They are common in tubers and fruit.

Amyloplasts are plastids, specifically leucoplasts. They are non-pigmented organelles, but are closely related to chloroplasts (and may sometimes become chloroplasts), which are classified as pigmented organelles.
