Anthropomorphism is the idea of applying human characteristics to animals or other non-human things. Mainstream examples of anthropomorphism are Bugs Bunny (a rabbit with the human characteristics of talking, standing erect etc.), Mickey Mouse (a rat with world domination schemes), Mr. Ed (a horse who talks), and pet rocks.
Non-mainstream examples of Anthropomorphism are Steve Gallacci's Albedo and Jim Groat's Red Shetland comic books.
